Hello.

On these pages you will find an excerpt from my unpublished novel "Three Days in Shayadran," a science-fiction tale which I am hawking to several publishers at the moment. If you are a publisher, please fee free to take a read and consider if it's something you'd be interested in. You can e-mail me with this link. SERIOUS REQUESTS ONLY, PLEASE.

If you're just a fan of sci-fi, feel free to take a look too. I welcome your input.

The Premise:

"Three Days in Shayadran" takes place in a distant future. Humanity has colonized much of the galaxy and is ruled by the sprawling and mostly well-meaning Terran Empire. The big business of the time and place is interstellar commerce. Spaceports are centers of culture and seats of economic power, and the Terran Freemerchant Guild is one of the most powerful organizations in the galaxy. While there are alien races scattered here and there, for the most part the only other species that matters are the Koni, a far-wandering race of explorers and traders. The Terrans and the Koni share a loose alliance, and they jointly manage Shayadran Port, the greatest spaceport in the Empire, a place that many traders call home. The main character of this story is one such trader. Rogan Slorn, small-time independent trader and member of the Freermerchant Guild, returns to Shayadran after many months away. He looks up his old friend Meg, a fellow Freemerchant, and her new business partners, a group of disreputable Koni adventurers. During a rowdy night of drinking and gambling, one of these Koni attempts to hustle Rogan out of his ship. This plan backfires, and Rogan walks away with all the money, a new ship, and a new enemy.

This excerpt begins the next morning, as a hungover Rogan tries to piece together the events of the night before...
